On April 24, 2017 in the First President’s Library held the round table on "Consolidation of Presidency as a Pillar Kazakhstan’s Political System" organized by First President’s Library, Institute of Strategic Studies under the President of Kazakhstan and Institute of State History of the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan and attended by experts of Kazakhstan’s research institutes and centers specializing in the field of political modernization and socio-political relations as well as academics, universities faculty members and students.
Deputy Director of the Library Zhumabekov, addressing the participants stated that the office of the President was established on April 24, 1990 to ensure implementation of the profound political and economic reforms; strengthen the constitutional order; protect, respect and fulfill the rights and freedoms of the citizens and maintain their security; and facilitate interaction between the branches of the government. According to Mr. Zhumabekov, Nursultan Nazarbayev successfully fulfilled the task.
The following well-known experts spoke before the participants: Professors of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Kazakhstan Fedotova and Suleimenov; Member of the Constitutional Council, Professor Malinovsky; Professor of Gumilev Eurasian National University Kalashnikova; Senior Research Fellow of the First President’s Library Telebaev.
The discussion covered the issues of features of political modernization of Kazakhstan in the context of constitutional reform; role of the presidency in preservation of a culture of interethnic and inter-confessional peace; foreign policy initiatives of President Nazarbayev as a factor of further political modernization of Kazakhstan and enhancing its international status.
KazISS Director and Deputy Director Shaukenova and Kushkumbaev made their talks on "Modernization of Values and Attitudes: President’s Platform" and "Kazakhstan’s Initiatives on Central Asian Cooperation" respectively.
