On June 29, 2017, the Kazakhstan Embassy in Beijing held the event where the Mandarin translation of the book entitled "The Selected Works of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev" was presented. The event was organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in the People's Republic of China jointly with the Institute of Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies (IREECAS) of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS).
The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the People's Republic of China Shakhrat Nuryshev, Director-General of the Department of European-Central Asian Affairs Sun Linjiang, Director of IREECAS Li Yongquan, Deputy Director of the Renmin State Publishing House Li Chunsheng delivered their talks during the event where the outstanding role of President Nazarbayev in building a prosperous and independent Kazakhstan was acknowledged with particular attention paid to the Third Modernization of Kazakhstan namely political and economic reforms that should be based on the modernization of the mentality of the people living in Kazakhstan.
The participant also spoke highly of the foreign policy initiatives of the President of Kazakhstan such as the closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site, Kazakhstan’s non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council for 2017-2018, the Global Strategic Initiative 2045, the talks on Syria in Astana and on the Iran nuclear issue. the economic policy of Kazakhstan particularly the conjunction of the "Nurly Zhol" State Programm with China’s " Silk Road Economic Belt" was mentioned as the sign of the progressive development of the bilateral relations between the two nations.
Among Kazakhstan’s experts participating in the event were KazISS Deputy Director Sanat Kushkumbaev, Senior Research Fellow of the Department of Foreign Policy and International Security Analysis Iskander Akylbayev, Head of the Eurasian Studies Program of the IMEP under the Foundation of the First President Ruslan Izimov, Senior Research Fellows of the Center for Military and Strategic Studies of Kazakhstan Svetlana Kozhirova and Raphik Tairov. The China’s side was also represented by the officers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and experts of the leading analytical centers and publishing houses of China.
