April 17, 2018, the Institute of Strategic Studies under the President of Kazakhstan gathered its experts and those of the Counselors' Office to the State Council of the People's Republic of China, namely the Deputy Head Wang Weimin, Counselors He Xingliang and Fan Xian, Department Heads Liu Jing and Liu Wenlian, Office Deputy Head of Gansu Province Yan Kaisin, Counselor in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Wang Xiang.
The KAZISS was represented by Director of Zarema Shaukenova, Deputy Director Sanat Kushkumbaev, Secretary for Academic Affairs Kazbek Issaev, Chief Research Fellow Vyacheslav Dodonov, Senior Research Fellows Bolat Tokabayev and Anastasia Reshetnyak, Research Fellows Kambat Nurgalieva and Slamzhar Ahmetzharov.
The discussion covered the topical issues of socio-economic and political development of the Central Asian region on the background of the current trends of the world economy as well as a number of issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, particularly the One Belt and One Road and its conjunction with the Nurly Zhol state program.
The head of the delegation Wang Weimin noted that the main purpose of the visit was to boost the cooperation between his structure and the think tanks of Kazakhstan that will help strengthen the partnership between the two countries at the regional and sub-regional levels.
Dr. Shaukenova drew the attention to the Kazakhstan development strategy of comprehensive modernization of the economic, social and spiritual spheres.
