On 10th September 2018 at the Kazakhstan Institute of Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KAZISS), an expert meeting was held with the delegation of The National Committee of The Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC)
The meeting was attended Chairman of the Commission for Nationalities and Religion of CPPCC Wang Weiguang, Deputy Chairman of the Commission for Nationalities and Religion of CPPCC Yang Faming, Ex-deputy Chairman of the Commission for Nationalities and Religion of CPPCC Xiao Min, Deputy of the Chancellery of the Commission for Nationalities and Religion of CPPCC Ma Yuxiang, Head of the Nationalities Department of the Commission for Nationalities and Religion of CPPCC Liu Xingyuan and representatives of the Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Kazakhstan Tang Zhongchao and Үyrenіshbekkyzy Arai.
The KazISS’s Deputy Director Madina Nurgaliyeva, Head of the Department of Social and Political Studies Alua Zholdybalina, Head of the Department of Information-Analytical Work Assel Nazarbetova, Senior Expert Bolat Tokabayev, Research Fellow at the Department of International Studies Temirlan Yeskendir and Research Fellow at the Department of Social and Political Studies Slyamzhar Akhmetzharov took part in this meeting.
The parties discussed the development of Kazakh-Chinese relations.
During the meeting, Chairman of the Commission for Nationalities and Religion of CPPCC Wang Weiguang, noted that the main functions of the CPPCC are political consultations, democratic supervision and participation in the discussion and management of public affairs. Wang Weiguang also stressed that there are 56 nationalities in the PRC. The tasks of the Committee on Nationalities and Religion include the creation of conditions for strengthening national unity. The Committee is a special body on issues in the ethnic and religious sphere. In addition, the Committee is responsible for collecting and recording opinions and recommendations of representatives of all ethnic groups and religious circles.
The experts exchanged opinions and experience in the settlement of inter-ethnic and inter-confessional relations in the People's Republic of China and in the Republic of Kazakhstan. During the meeting, a fruitful dialogue was held on the situation in the international arena and the development of Kazakh-Chinese relations. Issues of strengthening cooperation were discussed.
