May 4, 2018 within the framework of the SCO forum held in Astana, the KazISS experts held a meeting with the representatives of the Center for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS) of Pakistan, namely Vice-President Hafiz Masroor Ahmad, the advisory board members Jawad Majid Khan and Tayar Haider and Deputy Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Ahmed Vacas. The KazISS was represented by Director Zarema Shaukenova, Deputy Director Sanat Kushkumbayev, Secretary for Research and Academic Affairs Kazbek Issayev, experts Kymbat Nurgalieva, Adilkhan Gadelshiev and Slyamzhar Ahmetzharov.
Dr Hafiz Masroor Ahmed spoke about the activities of the Center for Global and Strategic Studies that are focus on countering extremism as well as other aspects of national and regional security. The Center is currently expanding cooperation with the Central Asian think tanks, in particular those in Kazakhstan.
Dr Zarema Shaukenova introduced guests to the structure of the Institute and the main directions of its activities. In addition, she dwelled on the key tasks of Kazakhstan's domestic and foreign policy and the priority directions of economic and political reforms in Kazakhstan.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed their willingness to further cooperation between the Center for Global and Strategic Studies of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of Kazakhstan.
