On June 7 at the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan there was a meeting with the Deputy Director General of the Foreign Ministry of Israel Alexander Ben-Zvi, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel in Kazakhstan Michael Brodsky and Senior Analyst of the Analytical Department of the Foreign Ministry of Israel Vita Abramov.
The KazISS Director of Zarema Shaukenova, the Deputy director Sanat Kushkumbaev, Secretary for Academic Affairs and Research Kazbek Issaev and Research Fellow of the Department of International Analysis Adilkhan Gadelshiyev participated in the event.
The key topics of discussion were international relations in Central Asian region and prospects for regional development. The Ambassador of Israel showed great interest in Kazakhstan’s domestic agenda. Meanwhile there were discussed the prospects for integration of Central Asian countries. In addition, diplomats were interested in the positions and policies such key actors as Russia and China in the region, in particular, within the framework of infrastructure projects – the Eurasian Economic Union and China's One Belt, One Road (OBOR) initiative.
Experts exchanged views on actual issues of international security in the Middle East and Afghanistan. Moreover, they discussed the prospects for the development of the SCO and the forthcoming summit in Qingdao (China).
