The first Deputy assistant Secretary of state for South and Central Asia, Ambassador Alice wells, arrived in Astana at the head of a delegation from the national Security Council, USAID, the Bureau of South and Central Asia Affairs and The Bureau of democracy, human rights and labor of the state Department. The purpose of the visit to Kazakhstan is to conduct an expanded dialogue on strategic partnership between the US and Kazakhstan.
This is the official meeting in the framework of the Dialogue on enhanced strategic partnership after the visit of President of Kazakhstan N.Nazarbayev to Washington in January 2018, which charted the way for the expansion of bilateral cooperation between the United States and Kazakhstan. Issues of global and regional security, anti-terrorist cooperation, economic and trade agreements, C5 + 1 initiative, human rights and other issues of interest were discussed at the meeting. Among them are issues of gender policy, promotion of women in Kazakhstan.
10th of December the U.S. Embassy in the Republic of Kazakhstan, U.S. chargé D'affaires toKazakhstan Theodor Ling organized a reception for Kazakh women leaders in business and politics, with the participation of Ambassador Alice wells and members of her delegation. The first Deputy assistant Secretary of state stressed in her opening speech that the partnership of our countries has been continuing and strengthening for 27 years, it covers such areas as trade, investment, education. The Ambassador particularly noted the contribution of Kazakhstan to the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. As well as the successful chairmanship of Kazakhstan in the UN Security Council.
The meeting was attended by deputies of the Majilis, heads of ministries, national companies, and business structures.
