On May 17, a panel session entitled “Involving civil society in welfare policies” was held within the framework of the 12th Astana Economic.
The session was organized by the Ministry of Information and Public Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Economic Research Institute JSC, the ALE “Kazakhstan Small and Medium Business Association “El Tiregi”, the ALE “The Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan”. The session was moderated by Asylbek Kozhakhmetov President of the Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan.

In his speech, the Minister noted the symbolism that, like last year, it was the session on the role of civil society that completes the overall work of the AEF.
In 2018, the session of the AEF “The Future of Civil Society. The panel session’s speakers were Sayasat Nurbek - Consultant for the National Project Office of the Global Coalition of Happiness and Well-Being, Ricardo Pelizzo - Associate Professor and Vice-Dean for Research at the Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Public Policy, Joseph Ziegler Kenneth - General Director of the International IT-Startup Technopark Astana Hub, Leila Akhmetova, Executive Director of the HPAIR Asian Organizing Committee.
During the panel session, issues such as the effective involvement of the civil sector in welfare policies were discussed; development trends and the future of civil society in Kazakhstan; implementation of the UN sustainable development goals; development of participation of civil society institutions in the organization of monitoring and implementation of the target indicators of the UN SDGs until 2030.
On behalf of KISI, a group of experts led by director Zarema Shaukenova, head and staff of the Information and Analytical Division of Asara Mukanova, Almas Arzikulov, Berikzhan Lespek, Gulnara Bimaganbetova, Asiya Kibasova participated in the event.
