On July 3, the Security Dialogue of the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation (FSC) took place in Vienna (Austria). The organizer is the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Tajikistan to the OSCE.
The Republic of Tajikistan for the period May-August 2019 for the first time assumes the chairmanship of the OSCE FSC, which is a decision-making body empowered to discuss matters of ensuring military security and stability. Along with the discussion of traditional issues on the agenda of the OSCE FSC, the Chairmanship program of Tajikistan aims to draw the Forum’s attention to the priority regional security issues of Central Asia and the need to strengthen OSCE cooperation with other organizations involved in security issues in the region, such as the CSTO, SCO, CICA, etc.
Tajikistan, as the Presidency of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), reflected the CICA themes in the framework of the OSCE FSC Security Dialogue.
Representatives of the CICA Secretariat, Executive Director Habibullo Mirzozada and Officer Dharmendra Singh, were invited to the meeting of the Security Dialogue meeting as speakers.
From KazISS under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Assel Nazarbetova, Head of the International Studies Department, took part in this event as a keynote speaker. In her report on the topic “The role of the CICA in the regional security system: history and current state”, two aspects were emphasized - showing retrospectives of the CICA, prerequisites for the emergence and evolution of the organization’s development, and presented an analysis of the current state of development, possibilities for implementing a particular development concept CICA
All speakers noted that the initiative to convene the CICA was first announced by the first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev at the 47th session of the UN General Assembly in 1992.
