On August 13, 2019 at the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies (KazISS) under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a meeting with the delegation of Beijing University (Peking University).
The delegation of Beijing University was represented by professors and doctoral students of various departments and specialties – "International relations", "Economics", "Public administration", "Oceanology", "Medicine", "Art", "Law", "Education", "Russian language and literature". The delegation was accompanied by Saule Koshanova, Director of the Confucius Institute at ENU named after L. N. Gumilyov.
At the meeting of the Institute for strategic studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan was attended by the Deputy Director Sanat Kushkumbayev, head of the Department of international studies Nazarbetova Assel, senior expert Bolat Tokabayev and researcher at the Department of international studies Temirlan Yeskendir.
Deputy Director of KISS Sanat Kushkumbayev told about the main activities of the Institute. During the meeting, the guests discussed the prospects of Kazakh-Chinese relations, the "Belt and road" initiative, the impact of the trade confrontation between China and the United States on the economies of the Central Asian countries.
In addition, representatives of Peking University showed a particular interest in the history of Kazakhstan, the program "Ruhani zhangyru", youth migration, peculiarities of education and science. In turn, they shared their experience in organizing the educational and research process at Beijing University, which heads the top universities of China. They also expressed their intention to establish cooperation with Kazakh universities and research centers.
