On February 24-25, 2020 the international conference «Eurasian Economic Union - Geopolitics and Economic Aspects» was held in Nur-Sultan. The event was organised by the Konrad Adenauer-Stiftung Representative Office in Kazakhstan.
The conference was attended by representatives of government bodies, think tanks, international organizations and experts from Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Germany, and the EU. KazISS was represented by Deputy Director Sanat Kushkumbaev and Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Social and Economic Studies Anna Alshanskaya.
The first day of the Conference was devoted to economic issues of the functioning of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The speakers shared their views on the economic impact of the EAEU on national economies of participating countries as well as the main results and key challenges of the development of the integration association.
The geopolitical aspects of Eurasian integration and prospects for expanding the EAEU's cooperation with external partners were in focus of the second day of the conference. At the panel session, the Deputy Director of KazISS Sanat Kushkumbayev delivered a presentation on the goals and strategies of Kazakhstan in the EAEU.
