The author of the textbook is a famous French writer, teacher, philosopher, sociologist Remy Hess (Rémi Hess), who for many years conducted scientific and teaching activities in universities and schools in Paris. Under his scientific supervision, 80 doctoral dissertations were successfully defended. Forty of his students became university professors in fifteen countries on four continents of the world. The textbook examines the life and work of 25 prominent thinkers in the history of philosophy of different eras, their most famous scientific works. The pages of the book examine the features of personality, thinking and approaches of these philosophers, present their famous philosophical concepts of the state and religion, art and morality, language and history, and others. Among them, for example, are the concepts of Plato’s love, the religion of St. Augustine, the ethics of Aristotle and Spinoza, Hegel’s rights, Rousseau’s social inequality and others. At the end of each chapter, a detailed analysis and commentary is presented, revealing the essence of those or other topics that the author raised.

In the preface, the author notes that the book is intended to introduce the younger generation to philosophical science, which expands human knowledge and plays a large role in the process of growing worldview.
