In March 18, 2021, an ethnopolitical discourse on the topic "Civic Identity and Its Components" took place online. The event was organized by the Institute of Applied Ethnopolitical Research of Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the event, the director of the Institute of Applied Ethnopolitical Research Talgat Kaliyev, deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Berik Abdygaliuly, deputy director of the IAER Aigul Sadvokasova made speeches.
The speakers drew the attention of the participants of the discourse to topical issues of the formation of civic identity in Kazakhstani society. B. Abdygaliuly noted that society needs to overcome the crisis of historical identity. This can be achieved by forming a holistic historical consciousness and expanding its horizons. A. Sadvokasova noted that according to the results of sociological studies conducted in 2018 and 2019 among various ethnic groups in Kazakhstan, it was revealed that it allows respondents to feel like a full-fledged citizen. In this issue, the most important factors are the following: 1) birth on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan; 2) fulfillment of civic obligations and compliance with the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan; 3) availability of documents certifying the citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The discussion was attended by Professor of the Department of Political Science of the ENU. named after L.N. Gumilyov Natalia Kalashnikova, expert of the Institute of Eurasian Integration, ENU named after L.N. Gumilyov Dauren Bazarov, head of the department of international relations, history and social work named after A. Myrzakhmetov Kokshetau University Ardak Kapyshev and others.
KazISS under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan was represented by the leading research fellow of the Department of Social and Political Research Yermek Toktarov.
