In April 7, 2021, at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the format of a video conference, the International Forum of Women Leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries - "Enhancing the Role of Women in Ensuring Sustainable Development" was held.

 At the opening of the forum, SCO Secretary General Vladimir Norov, Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva, Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Galina Korelova, former Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of India Anand Pinkai, Deputy Toraga of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Aida KasymalievaLyazzat Ramazanova, chairman of the National Commission for Women Affairs and Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.  In her speech, the head of the National Commission emphasized, “today we are faced with common problems on the way to improve the quality of life of women, therefore it is necessary to combine efforts, a kind of roadmap for joint actions.  The planned signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of gender equality between the authorized bodies of the SCO member states will contribute to the achievement of the goal of ensuring sustainable development in the region on the basis of an equal integration partnership and improving the lives of people in the SCO member states. "

 The Forum was organized in four sections:

  1. Women leaders as active participants in socio-political processes and socio-economic reforms.
  2. Multi-vector activity of women in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
  3. Protecting and ensuring the rights of women as individuals is an important condition for sustainable development.
  4. The role of women in the development of public and cultural diplomacy.

Director of the KazISS under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, member of the National Commission for Women and Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zarema Shaukenova spoke at the fourth session of the Forum on the topic "SCO: The Role of Women Leaders and Youth in Strengthening Interstate Relations."
