On September 2, 2021, at the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a meeting was held with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Republic of Kazakhstan Didier Canesse and the first counselor of the Embassy Dominique Gentils.
Deputy Director Sanat Kushkumbayev, Head of the International Studies Department (ISD) Asel Nazarbetova, Senior Researcher of ISD Kymbat Nurgalieva took part in the meeting on behalf of the KazISS under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, key areas and topical issues of political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between countries at the bilateral level, opportunities and prospects for expanding interstate cooperation in the field of regional security were discussed.
During the discussion, an exchange of views took place on the current situation in Afghanistan, its impact on the Central Asian region, possible ways to resolve the crisis, and assistance to peace building in the country from the international community.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their commitment to further development of productive partnership between the KazISS under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Embassy of the French Republic in the Republic of Kazakhstan, in particular, holding joint events on topical issues of the international and regional agenda with the involvement of French experts.
