On September 9, 2021, at the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a meeting was held with the delegation of the Embassy of the United States of America in the Republic of Kazakhstan, which was represented by the head of the Political Department, political adviser David Allen and an employee of the Political Department Zachary Barter.
Deputy Director Sanat Kushkumbayev, Head of the International Studies Department (ISD) Asel Nazarbetova, Senior Research fellow of ISD Kymbat Nurgalieva took part in the meeting on behalf of the KazISS under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, the sides discussed topical issues of Kazakh-American cooperation, prospects for the development of multilateral cooperation in the field of security in Central Asia, including within the framework of the dialogue platforms "C5 + 1", SCO, CICA, the Turkic Council.
In addition, within the framework of the discussion, an exchange of views took place on the situation in Afghanistan, possible scenarios for the development of events in the country, their impact on the situation and security in the region, joint efforts and assistance to Afghanistan from the international community.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their commitment to strengthening partnerships between the KazISS under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the US Embassy in the Republic of Kazakhstan, continuing the exchange of expert opinions on topical issues of the international and regional agenda.
