Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has thanked the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China for warm congratulations on his election and assumption of the office of President of Kazakhstan.

- I have received from you a very warm letter of congratulations. I see the election results as high confidence in me from Kazakhstan’s nation and support for the course of our First President, your friend Nursultan Nazarbayev, the Head of State said.

The President of Kazakhstan noted the importance of developing Kazakh-Chinese cooperation and stressed that relations with the PRC are one of the priorities of our foreign policy.

- This cooperation is strategic, it is very important to ensure peace and security in the vast territory of the Eurasian continent, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

In addition, the Head of State congratulated the Chinese leader on the successful holding of the Second Forum of International Cooperation One Belt, One Road and the upcoming 70th anniversary of the PRC.

In turn, Xi Jinping has again congratulated the President of Kazakhstan on his victory in the elections and invited him to pay an official visit to China this year.

- We hope to deepen cooperation in the processing of Kazakhstani agricultural products, digitalization, IT-industry and green technologies. We are also looking forward to a wider use of Kazakhstan’s transit potential by linking One Belt, One Road Program and the State Program for Industrial Innovation Development,  the Chairman of the PRC said.

During the meeting, the parties have also discussed the interaction of the two countries in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, in particular, the expansion of youth exchanges and joint activities.
