«People about People»: What do kazakhstanis think about the juri trial

We present the results of a sociological survey on the attitude of Kazakhstanis to the jury trials.

The practice of jury trial has existed in Kazakhstan since 2007. The possibility of considering a criminal case by a jury trial is one of the constitutionally established procedural guarantees of
judicial protection of the rights and freedoms of the accused, the mechanism of which is established by law.

What is the attitude of Kazakhstanis to the jury trial? This question was posed to respondents with experience of direct or indirect interaction with the judicial system. More than half of all respondents– 64.3% – have a positive attitude toward jury trials. And every fifth respondent stated a negative attitude, while only 4.9% of respondents were categorically
against.
