Presidential elections in Kazakhstan

auelbaev_new

According to the latest Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.K.Tokayev, the snap presidential elections will be held on November 20 this year. According to the new regulations, the term of the newly elected head of state will be seven years without the right of subsequent re-election.

The relevant proposal announced on September 1 in the presidential address is quite pivotal. Now this initiative has been pronounced and captured by legal standards. The country has launched an important political process, and as the dynamics of events increase, various political and social forces will be dragged in.

At the same time, it is necessary to count the cost of the ongoing and upcoming political transformation. This is the key to our progressive growth: exclusion of any hype and tacit agreements.

Adoption of urgent measures to reform the political system is a call of the times. The processes taking place have a direct impact on the social and economic status of Kazakhstanis. Sanctions regimes imposed on a number of neighboring countries, the disruption of production chains and logistic processes negatively affected the international trade and economic exchange, causing a rise in population flows and prices. Almost every citizen began to feel the influence of geopolitical processes.

The election programs and platforms of candidates for the highest political office will be implemented in accordance with the “Fair Kazakhstan” principle. Thus, we have to make our conscious choice of our future.   The elections will not only consolidate the achievements of constitutional reforms, but also allow time and provide a mandate of trust to continue and strengthen reforms in other areas. First of all, in the social and economic area.

Bulat Auelbayev, Chief Expert of the Representative Office of KazISS under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty
