Today director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerkin Tukumov met with a member of the Scientific Council of the Boim Institute for Asian and Global Studies Jerzy Oledzky (Poland).
Welcoming the guest, the head of KazISS Yerkin Tukumov noted: «Yesterday was very important for political, economic and cultural development of Kazakhstan. We conducted elections to the lowest house of Parliament, the Majilis and to local representative bodies – maslikhats. This event was the completion of the process of political modernization of our country. The next decisive step, I hope, will be economic modernization. »
The head of the Kazakhstani Institute expressed interest in the applicability of Poland’s experience in the transformation from a socialist to a modern democratic state, as well as in the work of local self-government bodies.
During the meeting, the parties discussed topical issues of domestic and foreign policy of the two countries, possible areas of academic cooperation, and exchanged experience in conducting analytical research.
Noting the expansion of the research priorities of the Institute for Asian and Global Studies in the direction of China, India, Central Asia and Kazakhstan, Jerzy Oledzky said: «I am impressed by the development of the green economy of Kazakhstan. Your country promotes green energy more intensively than Poland. Of course, the possession of natural uranium reserves and other resources facilitates the transition to environmentally safer energy sources for Kazakhstan.»
Summing up, Yerkin Tukumov proposed to expand cooperation in the format of round tables, expert discussions in the field of exchange of experience in carrying out political and economic reforms in the transformational period.
