KazISS held a presentation of a program to support young experts

On February 8, 2023, the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a presentation of a program to support young experts for representatives of the mass media.

Opening the meeting, the director of KazISS Yerkin Tukumov outlined the importance of such meetings and elaborated on the main activities and upcoming plans of the institute, whose 30th anniversary is celebrated this year.

In particular, he told, what are the aims and tasks of the program to support young experts, on what principle the selection is going to take place and what awaits the finalists of the program «Kazakhstan: development challenges and solutions».

«One of the key goals of the project is to support young experts in conducting research in the field of social sciences, for whom participation in the program opens up wide opportunities for self-development and self-realization. It will allow them to occupy an appropriate niche in the analytical field. In addition, participants of the program will have a great possibility to listen to educational trainings and seminars on the development of research skills from bright well-known authoritative analysts, » – Yerkin Tukumov said.

Speaking about the fact that the program is held by KazISS for the second time and the participants of last year’s program were young specialists from many cities of Kazakhstan, the director of KazISS expressed his hope, that this year number of participants from regions will increase.

We remind that, the program started on February 6, and application submit is going to end on March 7, 2023. According to the results, 20 experts will obtain an opportunity to take part in the creation of group and individual analytical reports and get a research grant by KazISS.

In the second part of the event Yerkin Tukumov, outlining impact of institute into creation and development of Kazakhstan, stressed on that 2023 is especially important for KazISS.

«We have reached the milestone of the 30th anniversary and will hold a series of large-scale events and various expert platforms. The most important event is going to be Central Asian Security and Cooperation Forum. On the area of forum we plan to gather top of world thinkers, leading experts and to discuss global and regional issues of current world development agenda, » – shared the head of the institute.

KazISS nowadays is becoming a main forum for expert discussion of the tasks of cooperation of Central Asian region. Current year institute started from implementing expert meeting «Central Asia-2030: future images», in which heads of strategic studies institutes of 5 region’s states heads took participation.

«Such meetings will continue throughout the year. It is planned to hold the IX Forum of Analytical Centers of the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States, these are representatives of 8 countries. The action plan also states the holding of meetings of the Kazakh-Russian and Kazakh-Azerbaijani Expert Council, established in 2022,» – Y. Tukumov said.

It is worth noting that KazISS is actively involved in expert-analytical and informational support of this year’s electoral campaigns. Regular measurements of the electoral sentiments of the population and attitudes to the socio-political situation in the country are carried out.

In the context of modernization of Kazakhstan, much attention is paid to regional development. In order to study the processes taking place in the regions and conduct regional research there, KazISS is expanding its network of representative offices. There are plans to open a representative office of KazISS in Aktobe and North Kazakhstan regions.

By the 30th anniversary of the KazISS is approaching with an updated structure in accordance with the tasks of the country’s leadership and the needs for analytical products, a collective monograph and other publications are being prepared showing the history of the KazISS and its contribution to the formation and development of Kazakhstan.
