The second week of the Senate’s public project “School of Analytics” focused on mastering analytical methods. One of the key speakers was the Director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KazISS), Yerkin Tukumov, who conducted a practical session on preparing analytical materials for the program participants.
Tukumov shared insights on approaches to drafting analytical briefs, emphasizing key criteria for high-quality analysis, such as data objectivity, clarity, conciseness, and alignment with national interests. He encouraged young analysts to avoid overly complex constructs and excessive theorizing in their work.
The KazISS Director provided a detailed explanation of the stages of analytical work, from collecting and processing materials to formulating strategic recommendations. Participants learned to effectively identify key factors, risks, and trends, as well as structure conclusions to ensure practical relevance.
Tukumov also highlighted the importance of strategic analysis, which goes beyond short-term solutions and requires a comprehensive examination of political, economic, and socio-cultural dimensions. This approach enables the development of sustainable recommendations aimed at addressing pressing challenges.
The public project “School of Analytics” is supported by the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and aims to enhance the quality of analytical approaches in public administration, media activities, the academic and expert community, and the civic sector.
The project was launched in 2021 by the Senate’s Young Experts Club and received backing from the Senate Chair, Maulen Ashimbayev.
Lecturers and trainers for the program include prominent Kazakhstani and international public figures, experts, and analysts.
