On January 14, the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KazISS) hosted a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Kazakhstan, Han Chunlin. The Chinese delegation also included Political Department Head Han Lei, Attaché Wang Biyue, and the Ambassador’s Assistant Zhou Huan.
The meeting focused on various aspects of bilateral cooperation and prospects for further strengthening relations between Kazakhstan and China.
In his welcoming remarks, KazISS Director Yerkin Tukumov congratulated Han Chunlin on his appointment and expressed confidence in the continuation of productive cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between think tanks in Kazakhstan and China, recalling the first Kazakhstan-China Think Tank Forum held in Beijing last November. Tukumov also announced plans to hold the second forum in Kazakhstan in 2025.
Ambassador Han Chunlin, in turn, highlighted that China and Kazakhstan are strategic partners and neighbors, united by a shared history and common development interests. The Ambassador emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation in various fields, including energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and new energy sources such as solar and wind energy.
