On July 7, 2022, the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies (KazISS) under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with the secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), held an online round table on the topic: “New reality in information and communication technology: trends and prospects”.
The purpose of the event was to discuss and share experiences and best practices in the development of information and communication technologies.
The round table was attended by representatives of 14 Member States, including prominent scientists and IT experts. Ms. Chi Fan, Deputy Executive Director of the CICA, addressed the participants of the meeting with a welcoming speech.
The moderator of the first session “The experience of the CICA member states in the development of information technologies”, Deputy Director of KazISS Sanat Kushkumbayev noted that modern IT-technologies every time more and more influence the daily life of a person. They are used to create electronic markets, create additional jobs and retrain existing staff, which is directly related to reducing unemployment. Information technology has expanded opportunities in the medical, educational, law enforcement fields, which has improved the activities of each institution.
Also during the session, the participants shared the national experience of their countries in the development of the IT sphere, discussed the transformation of the information space in scientific activities.
During the second session “Prospects for the development of the IT industry in the context of global turbulence”, experts discussed the impact of the global crisis on the IT sector, and also made a forecast regarding the further development of this area.
The speakers of the event were the Deputy Director of the Informatization Research Department of the Chinese Academy of Information and Communication Technologies Chui Wing, Associate Professor of the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies Iroda Shamsiyeva, Chief Engineer of the Institute of Information Technologies of Azerbaijan Shakir Mehdiyev, Associate Professor of Dogus University (Turkey) Itir Toksoz, Deputy Director of the Center for International Information security and science and technology policy of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations Elena Zinovieva, a representative of the Cybersecurity Department of the Ministry of Public Security Chi Chao Wu and director of the Institute for Security and Cooperation in Central Asia (Kazakhstan) Shavkat Sabirov.
