The monograph talks about the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site and how the nuclear past is reflected in the nuclear present of the country.
We should recall that the book was first published in February 2022 by Stanford University Press. The presentation of the English version of the book «Atomic Steppe: How Kazakhstan Gave Up the Bomb» was held by the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
