Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia to deepen cooperation in the expert field

Today, Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of Kazakhstan held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Kazakhstan Faisal Hanif Al Qahtani.

The meeting was devoted to the development of relations between Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia in both bilateral and multilateral formats. The interlocutors paid special attention to the 1st Central Asia – Gulf Cooperation Council Summit.

The parties expressed mutual interest in the development of the expert track of interaction. Director of KazISS Yerkin Tukumov noted the fruitful development of relations between Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia in various spheres, including trade and economic cooperation. However, according to him, interstate interaction also requires expansion of work at the expert level: “Our institute pays great attention to interaction with foreign think tanks. This allows us to promptly and openly exchange opinions on conceptual and topical issues in the sphere of interstate cooperation and international relations.”

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Kazakhstan Faisal Hanif Al Qahtani in his speech noted: “For the development of relations between two states, strategic research is very important. I think the efforts we make to develop cooperation should also include such studies. We express our interest in the common work between KazISS and think tanks of Saudi Arabia. It will be pleasure to assist in building ties in the expert community.”
