Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Agreed on a Number of Joint Projects in the Field of Analytics and Science

During a working trip to Uzbekistan, the Director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zhandos Shaimardanov, held a series of meetings with the heads of the country’s key research and analytical centers.

In negotiations with Eldor Aripov, Director of the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, an agreement was reached to hold the third meeting of the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan Expert Council, timed to coincide with the upcoming high-level visit. The parties also exchanged views on approaches to preparing a joint analytical product dedicated to Central Asia and opportunities for its promotion on international platforms.

At a meeting with Javlon Vakhabov, Director of the International Institute of Central Asia, a number of issues were discussed regarding mutual participation in events organized by the institutes, as outlined in the Joint Action Plan of KazISS and IICA for 2025–2026. Special attention was given to the format of organizing workshops for academic development and the exchange of experience between think tanks.

During an expert exchange with Akram Umarov, Director of the Institute for Advanced International Studies, the parties expressed readiness to engage in joint analytical work timed to coincide with the Astana Think Tank Forum, which will be held on October 15–16, 2025, in Astana.

In meetings with the heads of the Agency for Strategic Reforms, the Center for Foreign Policy Studies and International Initiatives, the Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research, and the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, there was a substantive exchange of views on the international agenda, reforms in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, foreign economic activities, and prospects for deepening economic cooperation in Central Asia.

In addition, the Director of KazISS took part in the international scientific and practical conference “The Role of the Spiritual Heritage of Abai Kunanbayev in Strengthening Cultural Integration of the Peoples of Central Asia,” organized by the International Institute of Central Asia and the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Uzbekistan. During the event, participants discussed the cultural role of Abai’s heritage as a factor uniting the peoples of the region and enhancing their humanitarian cooperation.
