Meeting with representatives of the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Poland in Kazakhstan

At KazISS, a meeting was held between director of the institute, Yerkin Tukumov, and the Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of Poland in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Tomasz Kollat, and the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, Jozef Tymanowski.

At the beginning of the conversation, Yerkin Tukumov emphasized the importance of the humanitarian component in building relationships. “We can develop economic and political contacts, but without a scientific and cultural component, all of this will be incomplete. Our countries have very close relations, and they need to be further developed. There are topics where our interests intersect — in questions of security in general and that of our countries. The European Union is interested in building relations with Kazakhstan. Poland plays a significant role in Europe, and it needs to be studied together.”

Tomasz Kollat, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of Poland in the Republic of Kazakhstan, spoke about the close international contacts between Poland and Kazakhstan. “We have always had good cooperation, good opportunities. Today, we met with you to discuss and develop our further contacts. Kazakhstan is of interest to us. We want to discuss all possible directions of cooperation between our think tanks for scientific research, studying the international agenda.”

Yerkin Tukumov noted that the idea of a Kazakhstan-Poland council deserves the attention of KazISS and expressed support for this initiative. “Participating in joint research will be interesting for us. We are ready to contribute to the development of the Kazakhstan-Poland Scientific Council in this direction. We are interested in cooperation with Polish publications. We are working to include our journal, Central Asia’s Affairs, in the international Scopus database. The Polish scientific community has significant experience, and I think we need to get to know each other better, establish contacts based on our mutual research interests.”

Summing up the meeting, Yerkin Tukumov and Tomasz Kollat agreed to enhance cooperation in joint research and expand contacts within the framework of the Kazakhstan-Poland Scientific Council.
