On November 19, in Belgrade, in the presence of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KazISS) and Serbia’s Institute of International Politics and Economics (IIPE).
As part of President Tokayev’s official visit to Serbia, a total of 10 memorandums were signed between Kazakhstani and Serbian organizations. The signing ceremony of bilateral agreements took place following narrow and expanded negotiations between the presidents of Kazakhstan and Serbia.
Prior to the signing, the heads of state expressed confidence that the documents signed during the visit would contribute to the further deepening of Kazakh-Serbian cooperation.
The memorandum, signed by Yerkin Tukumov, Director of KazISS, on behalf of Kazakhstan, and Branislav Đorđević, Director of IIPE, on behalf of Serbia, aims to develop scientific and expert dialogue and implement joint projects in research and education.
The parties agreed to cooperate in several key areas, including the exchange of scientific materials, the implementation of joint research, and the organization of joint events on pressing issues of the bilateral agenda.
During the negotiations, the presidents of Kazakhstan and Serbia also expressed mutual interest in further increasing bilateral trade.
They discussed the broad opportunities and resources available for advancing flagship joint projects in industries such as manufacturing, agriculture, transit and logistics, defense, digitization, telecommunications, and aerospace.
The importance of enhancing connectivity and diversifying transport infrastructure was emphasized, including the potential launch of direct flights between the capitals.
The presidents also paid special attention to fostering practical cooperation in education, science, healthcare, tourism, and the implementation of artificial intelligence.
