The International Conference “The Republic of Kazakhstan in the modern system of international relations”, organized jointly with the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of Kazakhstan, was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs”.
The event, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic service, was attended by the leadership of the Foreign Ministry, representatives of government agencies, research institutes and veterans of diplomacy.
The plenary session “The diplomatic service as a tool to promote national interests” was moderated by Yerkin Tukumov, Director of KazISS. He noted that for 30 years the diplomatic service of Kazakhstan has made a huge contribution to the protection and promotion of national interests in the international arena.
“Over the past three decades, Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry has developed as a highly professional community of political and government officials who have made a tremendous contribution to the protection and promotion of the country’s national interests in the international arena.
Today Kazakhstan is a sovereign member of the international community, a respected member of international and regional organizations, the initiator of a number of important foreign policy initiatives that enjoy well-deserved recognition and support in the world.
I am confident that after 30 years of formation, Kazakhstan’s diplomatic service will achieve many great and bright accomplishments,” said Yerkin Tukumov.
Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security of Majilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Aigul Kuspan, executive director of CICA Secretariat Kairat Sarybay, OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Kairat Abdrakhmanov, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Bagdad Amreyev, President of the International Turkic Academy Darkhan Kydraly, CEO of the Islamic Organization for Food Security Erlan Baydaulet, respected Kazakh scientists-historians and politicians also spoke at the conference.
Director of the UN Office in Geneva Tatiana Valovaya, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, Special Representative of the PRC Government for Eurasia Li Hui, MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov, Deputy Chairman of the Justice and Development Party of Turkey Numan Kurtulmush, famous American political scientist Ariel Cohen sent their video messages. Their speeches included congratulations on the anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry and high praise for Kazakhstan’s diplomatic school.
