Trust and Partnership: KazISS Director Thanks EU Special Representative for Central Asia for Productive Cooperation

On November 25, 2024, Yerkin Tukumov, Director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KazISS), attended a farewell reception marking the conclusion of the mission of Terhi Hakala, the European Union Special Representative for Central Asia, who had held the position since 2021.

Yerkin Tukumov expressed his gratitude to Ms. Hakala for her collaboration during her tenure as the EU Special Representative for Central Asia. He highlighted her significant contribution to strengthening the partnership between the European Union and Central Asian countries, including Kazakhstan, and emphasized that this cooperation has been an important step toward enhancing the region’s security and development.

He extended particular appreciation for the joint efforts within the framework of the Central Asian Forum on Security and Cooperation, organized by KazISS in July 2023.

The KazISS Director expressed confidence that the foundations laid for future collaboration will foster even closer interaction between Kazakhstan and the European Union. He also thanked Terhi Hakala for her personal contribution to building trust and mutual understanding between the regions.
