On June 18, Zhandos Shaimardanov, Director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KazISS), held a meeting with Zulkifli Baharudin, Ambassador of Singapore to Kazakhstan.
Welcoming the Ambassador, Mr. Shaimardanov highlighted KazISS’s active collaboration with analytical centers across Central Asia, China, Russia, as well as with several ASEAN research institutes, including those from Indonesia and Malaysia. He recalled that in May of last year, Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev made a state visit to Singapore, delivering a keynote lecture outlining his vision of the role of middle powers in ensuring global security, stability, and sustainable development.
“In this context, we are genuinely interested in deepening cooperation with Singaporean research institutes and analytical centers, given Singapore’s status as a key partner for Kazakhstan in Southeast Asia,” emphasized Mr. Shaimardanov.
In turn, Ambassador Zulkifli Baharudin noted the positive momentum in Kazakhstan-Singapore relations, stressing Singapore’s interest in strengthening cooperation on the expert track and willingness to share experience in public administration research.
The parties comprehensively discussed current issues on the international political agenda, as well as priority areas for trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Singapore, expressing hope for enhanced expert dialogue between the two countries.
