On 16 November 2022 the Forum of Strategic Initiatives was held in Astana, dedicated to the image of future of Kazakhstan and the priority reforms of the next seven years.
The changes that have been taking place in Kazakhstan since the beginning of 2022 are not always obvious, but they are fundamental and irreversible. This is particularly true of political liberalisation, which has a significant impact on the economy makes many previously popular mechanisms and instruments irrelevant.
A “Window of Opportunity” is open for Kazakhstan as a whole and for each of its citizens, which can and should be used for transformation if there is an appropriate readiness. The image of “Kazakhstan-2029” directly depends on its success – all sessions of the forum were devoted to it.
In his presentation during the second panel session, “Scenarios for a Geopolitical Future”, Yerkin Tukumov, Director of the KazISS under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, pointed on the necessity to combine intellectual efforts and create country centres, including those for Central Asia.
