On the sidelines of Central Asian Security and Cooperation Forum, Head of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of Kazakhstan Yerkin Tukumov will hold a number of meetings with foreign delegates and guests of CAF. Today the Director’s schedule started with a meeting with journalists.
Foreign media include correspondents and editors of major print and electronic ediitions from Belgium, China, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Singapore, Turkey and Uzbekistan. The guests specially arrived to cover the forum. Director Yerkin Tukumov spoke about the activities of the KazISS, what projects are currently being implemented by the country’s leading think tank and what the upcoming forum promises.
“Representatives of 25 countries will come to Kazakhstan, to our forum. Most of them have not visited our country yet. Taking into account our theme “Asia in the Changing World. Agenda for the Future”, the vast majority of guests are from Asia. But representatives of the USA, Europe and Russia are also among the delegates. We will talk about how to build our relations with Asian countries in the future. How to build a safer and more prosperous future.”
The journalists, in turn, were interested in the history of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and current topics of the Central Asian Forum. In addition, the issues of the geopolitical situation in the region and cooperation with neighboring countries were touched upon. Yerkin Tukumov mentioned that the political reforms initiated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev have become the foundation for economic modernization. “Relations with neighbors play a key role in our balanced foreign policy. Today, the importance of medium and small countries, to which Kazakhstan belongs, is growing,” he noted.
