On the sidelines of the Astana International Forum, Yerkin Tukumov, Director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, met with Olivier Jean Patrick Nduhungirehe, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Rwanda.
The meeting focused on Rwanda’s experience with political and socio-economic reforms, which have played a key role in transforming the East African country into one of the continent’s most dynamic and resilient states.
Minister Nduhungirehe highlighted the growing interest of African countries in Kazakhstan, driven by the increasing trade, economic, and political significance of Central Asia and Kazakhstan in particular. He noted that the regular visits of African officials to Astana reflect this trend.
The two sides explored promising areas of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Rwanda. During the meeting, an interview was recorded for Yerkin Tukumov’s television program Big Diplomacy on Jibek Joly TV.
It is worth noting that as part of the Astana International Forum, a strategic session titled “Kazakhstan and Africa: Opening New Horizons for Cooperation” took place. Participants of the session emphasized that Kazakhstan and Africa are forging a dynamic partnership based on shared priorities in economic growth, sustainable development, and global stability.
During the discussion, it was repeatedly noted that Kazakhstan has been actively expanding its engagement with Africa in recent years, recognizing the continent’s strategic importance as a rapidly growing economic hub rich in human and natural resources. Through closer cooperation, Kazakhstan and African nations can unlock new opportunities in trade and investment, facilitate technology exchange, and build resilient, future-ready economies.
