KazISS Hosted Meeting with Director of the Institute for Peace & Diplomacy

On May 28, 2025, ahead of the Astana International Forum 2025, Yerkin Tukumov, Director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KazISS), met with Younes Zangiabadi, Executive Director of the Canadian think tank Institute for Peace & Diplomacy (IPD).

The Institute for Peace & Diplomacy is an independent North American think tank operating in Canada and the United States, engaged in promoting international dialogue and diplomacy. The center was founded in 2019, with its headquarters located in Toronto, Canada, and an additional office in Washington, D.C., USA.

During the meeting, the two sides emphasized the importance of the role of middle powers and the growing relevance of issues related to multilateral diplomacy.

They also discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Canada in trade, economic development, and cultural and humanitarian exchanges. Particular attention was paid to opportunities for deepening partnerships in the field of education.

In addition, both sides expressed interest in establishing expert-level cooperation between KazISS and IPD in the areas of international relations and sustainable development.
