KazISS Names Ten Finalists of the Young Experts Support Program

The Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KazISS) has summed up the results of the Young Experts Support Program “New Horizons of Economic and Social Development of Kazakhstan’s Regions.”

We are pleased to announce that the selection of the best works has been completed: ten finalists have been identified, each demonstrating a high level of analytical skills, the relevance of their chosen topics, and a professional approach to research.

The finalists represent the cities of Astana and Almaty, as well as the Almaty, Karagandy, Turkistan, Aktobe, and Ulytau regions. Each finalist will receive a KazISS grant to further implement their project.

This year, participants presented projects on key areas of Kazakhstan’s socio-economic development, including sustainable development, education, regional economy, digital security, and resource policy. The finalists’ works stand out for the depth of analysis, the use of up-to-date data, and the inclusion of practical recommendations.

The competition consisted of two stages: completion of an educational program and preparation of an individual analytical report. Over eight weeks, participants completed an intensive training course that included methodological workshops, thematic seminars, and master classes. The program covered strategic analysis, analytical writing, communications, data analysis, and forecasting. As a result, the young experts strengthened both their academic knowledge and practical skills in applied analysis.

The program generated significant interest: from April 7 to May 30, 2025, 78 applications were submitted, 76 of which were accepted. Among the participants were 40 women (51.3%) and 38 men (48.7%), reflecting a high level of engagement and gender balance among young analysts.

KazISS congratulates the finalists and extends its gratitude to the mentors for their active support and expert guidance throughout the program. We also thank all participants for their commitment to contributing to the development of Kazakhstan’s regions and wish them continued success in their academic and analytical endeavors.
