September 22, 2022 KazISS under the President of Kazakhstan, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Russia held a scientific conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation.
The conference was attended by MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Russia Yermek Kosherbayev, Director of KazISS under the RK President Yerkin Tukumov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Andrey Rudenko, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Yermuhambet Konuspaev, as well as experts from leading think tanks of Kazakhstan and Russia.
The conference was devoted to the development and prospects of strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Russia, as well as the analysis of global and regional challenges, and cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, the Director of KazISS under the President of Kazakhstan, Yerkin Tukumov noted that this year Kazakhstan and Russia are celebrating 30 years of diplomatic relations and strategic partnership. Both Kazakhstan and Russia are extremely interested in stable and prosperous development of each other. According to Ye. Tukumov, in the changing geopolitical situation, it is important to strengthen the “second track of diplomacy,” namely the expert dialogue between the two countries.
In his speech, Anatoly Torkunov, Rector of MGIMO, emphasized the importance of strengthening expert cooperation between the two countries. In the context of growing geopolitical turbulence, this mechanism of interaction will play an important role in solving urgent issues.
Kazakh Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia Yermek Kosherbayev emphasized the high dynamics of economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia as a basis for long-term and productive cooperation between the two countries.
In turn, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Andrey Rudenko noted the strategic nature of bilateral relations and efforts of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to build the “New Kazakhstan”, aimed at improving the well-being of the country.
In general, the experts exchanged views on trends and transformations in global politics, regional security, and discussed further prospects for cooperation in the research sphere.
All participants thanked the organizers of the conference represented by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Russia, MGIMO MFA of Russia and KazISS under the President of Kazakhstan for the high level of the event.
