On October 28, 2025, as part of the first official visit of the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, to Kazakhstan, a number of bilateral documents were signed, including a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KazISS) and the Crisis Management Initiative – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation (CMI).
The ceremony of exchanging the signed documents took place in the presence of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of Finland Alexander Stubb. The Memorandum was signed by Zhandos Shaimardanov, Director of KazISS under the President of Kazakhstan, and Janne Taalas, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation.
The agreement aims to develop academic and expert dialogue, conduct joint research, and implement educational initiatives that promote knowledge exchange and strengthen mutual understanding between Kazakhstan and Finland.
The Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation, founded by former President of Finland and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Martti Ahtisaari, is one of the leading international organizations in the field of conflict prevention and resolution through dialogue and mediation.
