Over 80% of Kazakhstanis Are Confident the Country Is Moving in the Right Direction

A recent sociological survey conducted in October 2025 by the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies reveals that 81.1% of Kazakhstanis expressed support for the current political course and confidence in the nation’s development.

The survey highlights that young people, particularly those aged 18–29, show the highest level of optimism, with 85.5% expressing support for the ongoing reforms.

Additionally, rural residents are more positive in their assessment of the country’s political trajectory, with 84.3% believing Kazakhstan is progressing well, compared to 79.1% of city residents.

At the same time, the level of social optimism does not depend on gender, with support rates among men and women showing no significant differences. 80.5% of men and 81.7% of women positively assess the country’s development trajectory.

An important indicator of citizens’ satisfaction with the political course is their assessment of the country’s stability as a fundamental condition for socio-economic development and personal well-being. This topic was addressed in a dedicated section of the sociological survey.

Overall, 74.6% of respondents shared a positive view on the stability of the country, and this figure rises to 80.6% among young people. Gender-wise, 76.1% of men and 73.5% of women perceive the situation in Kazakhstan as stable.

Among rural residents, the share of positive responses is 76.7%, while among urban residents it is 73.3%, indicating that a favorable social environment persists in both cities and rural areas.

* The sociological survey was conducted at the order of KazISS from October 3 to November 5, 2025. The sample size was 8,000 respondents. The survey included respondents aged 18 and older from 17 regions and 3 cities of national significance – Astana, Almaty, and Shymkent.
