KazISS Director Met with the Ambassador of Portugal

On 27 January, a meeting was held at the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan between KazISS Director Zhandos Shaimardanov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Portugal to Kazakhstan José Amaral.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of Kazakhstani-Portuguese cooperation, as well as opportunities to expand interaction in the analytical and expert spheres. Introducing the guests to KazISS’s key areas of activity, Zhandos Shaimardanov emphasized the importance of strengthening contacts between think tanks of the two countries and exchanging experience on the current international agenda.

He noted that Kazakhstan and Portugal have significant potential for cooperation in a number of promising areas, including renewable energy, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, the development of transport and logistics infrastructure, as well as tourism, healthcare, and education.

For his part, José Amaral expressed interest in deepening bilateral engagement and confirmed the Portuguese side’s readiness to develop constructive dialogue and practical cooperation in priority areas.
