On February 10, 2026, a meeting took place at the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KazISS) between KazISS Director Zhandos Shaimardanov and Stefan Eriksson, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed topical issues on international and regional agenda. They exchanged views on high-potential formats and areas of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Sweden, as well as opportunities for expanding multilateral partnerships between the countries of Central Asia and Northern Europe. Particular attention was paid to development of expert and analytical cooperation between KazISS and Swedish research centres.
The meeting reviewed in detail issues relating to digital transformation taking place across the world. Zhandos Shaimardanov highlighted a steady and systematic progress of digitalization in Kazakhstan noting the measures being implemented to modernize technology, develop a modern digital infrastructure and introduce national solutions in the field of artificial intelligence.
The interlocutors also discussed the progress of constitutional reform in Kazakhstan. The Director of KazISS underlined that transition to a unicameral parliament, formation of new institutions of representative democracy, and other key components of the reform are a logical continuation of large-scale political transformations consistently implemented by President Tokayev since 2019.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in continuing the dialogue and expressed their readiness to contribute to further development of comprehensive ties between Kazakhstan and Sweden.
