«People about People»: A Manager in the Evaluations of his Employees

The Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan presents the answers ofworking Kazakhstani citizens about their executives.

One of the significant factors determining both the effectiveness of employees and their job satisfaction is the manager. Remembering the phrase «For the most part, employees leave their bosses, not their companies» let’s look through the prism of public opinion survey results at what Kazakhstani people say about their managers.

Working respondents living in all regions of the country,both urban and rural settlements, as well as in the cities of Nur-Sultan, Almaty and Shymkent tookpart in the sociological survey. «Good management» takes one of the leading places among factors of job attractiveness for Kazakhstanis. For 27.5% of respondents,a job is attractive because of good management (Figure 1).
