Meeting with the Ambassador of Hungary to Kazakhstan

A meeting between the Director of the Institute Mr. Yerkin Tukumov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Otto Ivan Rona took place in KazISS.

During the conversation Yerkin Tukumov emphasized that Hungary is an important strategic partner of Kazakhstan in the European Union, and also spoke about the current activities of the Institute’s work, key areas of research, noting that Kazakhstan is aimed at further political and economic reforms. “Kazakhstan will expand ties with Hungary, including on the implementation of the Agreement on Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the European Union,” – said the head of the Institute.

In his greeting, Otto Ivan Rona noted that Hungary and Kazakhstan have strong friendly relations. “Hungary supports a balanced, multi-vector policy of Kazakhstan. And between our states have built historically warm cultural ties, economic cooperation, and contacts and mutual understanding – above all in the defense of their own national interests.”

Yerkin Tukumov and Otto Ivan Rona discussed current topics of bilateral relations, exchanged views on international issues. According to the KazISS Director, close positions on international agenda issues will further strengthen the interaction between the two countries in international formats – in the UN, OSCE and OTS.

Hungary has great interest in the energy sector, realization of new investment projects. Otto Ivan Rona emphasized: “Hungary’s East-oriented policy since 2012 has brought rapidly developing relations with Central Asian countries and Kazakhstan, this solves the issues of energy and heat supply and gives uninterrupted work and functioning of the Hungarian economy”.

In conclusion, the head of KazISS and the Ambassador outlined plans for mutual work for the current year with the participation of scientists, turkologists, economists, experts from Hungary and Kazakhstan.
