Ensuring the country’s energy safety was discussed at the Expert Council on Economy under KazISS

On February 13, 2026, a meeting of the Expert Council on Economy was held at the KazISS under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, focusing on issues relating to ensuring the country’s energy safety.

With growing demand for electricity, digitalization of economy and implementation of new industrial projects, participants discussed systemic measures to enhance the resilience of Kazakhstan’s energy system, develop infrastructure and introduce modern technological solutions.

The meeting was attended by representatives from think tanks, industry associations, business sector and academic community: Alikhan Baidusenov, Senior Partner at ENERGY Insights & Analytics; Denis Korsunov, Partner at ENERGY Insights & Analytics; Marat Kalmenov, Director of Processing and Analysis Department at Institute for Development of Electric Power Industry and Energy Saving JSC; Damir Narynbayev, Executive Director of KAZENERGY Association; Dinara Daribayeva, Research Analyst and Marketing Specialist at IHS Markit; Maxim Kononov, First Deputy Executive Director of the Republican Association of Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises; Altai Alimgazin, Professor at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Doctor of Technical Sciences.

The participants noted that ensuring the energy safety is becoming one of the key factors in Kazakhstan’s competitiveness and requires a transition towards development of high-tech energy system capable of supporting long-term industrial and digital growth.
