On May 5, 2026, at the invitation of the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Kazakhstan, experts from the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies met with a delegation from the Royal College of Defence Studies, which is currently visiting Astana as part of an academic tour. The RCDS delegation included representatives from ten countries, namely the United Kingdom, Brazil, Ghana, Germany, Israel, India, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, and France.
The Kazakhstani side was represented by Deputy Director of KazISS Dauren Aben, Head of the International Security Department Aliya Mussabekova, Chief Expert of the International Security Department Mukhit Assanbayev, Leading Expert of the Department of European and American Studies Alisher Abdreshev, and Chief Expert of the Department of Asian Studies Zhanarbek Dzhanabayev.
During the meeting, the participants discussed key trends in global politics, current issues of international and regional security, as well as the main principles and priorities of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy.
The Royal College of Defence Studies is the United Kingdom’s leading higher education institution in the field of defence and strategic security. Founded in 1927, it is part of the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom. The College prepares senior military officers, diplomats, and civil servants for top leadership positions.
