Kazakh-Serbian scientific cooperation received a new impetus during the meeting of heads of analytical centers of the two countries

In order to strengthen relations between Kazakhstan and Serbia, as well as establish close ties between the analytical centers of the two countries, the Director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerkin Tukumov met today with the head of the Center for Eurasian Studies of the Institute of International Politics and Economics Dusan Prorokovich (Serbia).

Doctor Dusan Prorokovich is a Serbian researcher, political scientist and publicist, author of more than 70 scientific and more than 300 newspaper articles in the field of international relations, geopolitics, diplomacy and international security. He has written a number of monographs on international relations, for example, «Kosovo: interethnic and political relations», «Geopolitics of Serbia: the situation and prospects at the beginning of the XXI century», «The Era of multipolarity», etc. In addition, the Serbian scientist took part in the parliamentary elections to the Majilis as an observer.

During the discussion of the main purpose of the guest’s visit to Kazakhstan, the head of the KazISS Yerkin Tukumov said: «Yesterday we held parliamentary elections. Now we are waiting for economic reforms. It is necessary to diversify the economy, create new jobs, and solve social problems. We need a complex economy.» Stressing the importance of simultaneous political and economic modernization, the head of the Kazakhstan Institute noted: «The fact that we are confidently carrying out our reforms in such geopolitical realities only once again confirms the correctness of the choice of the country’s development path. »

During the meeting, the parties exchanged experience in conducting research, discussed issues of global and regional security, the factor of interethnic relations in the issue of Balkan security, migration policy, prospects for the development of tourism, sports diplomacy.

Separately, the participants of the meeting focused on the issue of human capital, noting the need to stimulate demographic growth, attract highly qualified personnel, and solve the problem of population outflow.

Thanking the Kazakh side for the opportunity to meet, Dusan Prorokovich said: «In 2022, the Center for Eurasian Studies of the Institute of International Politics and Economics celebrated 76 years since its foundation. This year we decided to develop the Asian direction.» In this regard, the Serbian scientist expressed interest in expert cooperation with KazISS in the framework of joint projects.
